Thanks to you, as always. I come here for the food, service and location. It is usually the restaurant we choose for family gatherings. I hope you will also try the Antica Osteria Romagnola and Posta.

This is a wonderful list! I wish I had it when I was there in the fall of 2023. But I'm hoping to return soon. Thank you, and love your posts!

You certainly hit many of our favorites! We are so lucky to live part of the year on Via Santo Stefano - can walk to many of these and will be sure to try the ones we are not familiar with. Grazie tanto!

Ciao Monica

Great photo

When we travel there is , as you well know the frustrations of the restaurant food quality or selection. On occasion you go with a recommendation and later think, really? Dissatisfaction. Atmosphere was wonderful not in tourist area 😟. And of course there are those surprises. One of our frustrations are those dishes buried in cheese. Next year we will visit places on your list. Thank you

Thanks, Mark; I thought a lot about which restaurants and trattorias to recommend. I chose a precise criterion: where I go. In a touristic city, these places are frequented by tourists and Bolognese people (not only tourists). I hope my advice won't disappoint! Anyway, be careful, dishes buried in cheese seem to be everywhere. And I hate them! Cheese overpowers the flavor of the dish and the quality of the ingredients (disgusting!)

What a wonderful and generous post, grazie mille, Monica. I have very fond memories of two meals in Bologna in January 2004, and loved the city also on two subsequent visits, but those two first meals were so memorable (except for the name of the restaurants).

We ate at Trattoria dal Biassanot four times when we were in Bologna this week-I wish I had discovered you on Substack before I spent time in Bologna.
